Jon was just like all of us. He worked in a corporate company and looked forward to spending his weekends at the comfort of home or with family. His wife and kids loved to spend time with him as they had movie nights, fun time in the backyard and even used to go out and spend the much needed family time during the weekends.
As social life has reduced in this era, he kept in touch with his relatives and friends via social media or through texting. Like a typical family, they used to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and other events by reuniting with their extended families. They used to have a great time and at times, it used to turn bitter with arguments and cold icy glares.
However, Jon's wife, Jane, was of the opinion that keeping in touch with family is important and this will help their kids teach the importance of having good relations with the extended family. Hence, as New Year was fast approaching, they decided to hangout with the extended family by hosting the event.
Extended family members were invited and they were planning various activities like small games, having a barbeque evening and so on. Jane was informed by most of the family members that they would be staying for two to three days to spend time as the place they owned was quite far from the others.
However, the uncles, aunties, cousins and their families were visiting Jon’s place for the first time. Jon had invited them to their holiday home and had booked two other neighboring holiday cabins so that most families could enjoy their privacy and sleep comfortably.
Nobody in the family knew (other than their own parents) that Jon and his wife could afford renting out the cabins. Both Jon and his wife had high paying jobs and had a comfortable home amidst the heart of the city. The other relatives were also unaware that Jon owned the holiday home as well.
Everyone's jaw literally dropped as the cars were parked neatly in the parking lot of the luxurious and very well maintained neighborhood.
