How complicated are relationships - Part 1

Ashley was doing a part time job so that she could earn money to graduate from medical school. Her best friend, Amie, was enrolled in a prestigious university and it would take her almost 8 hours to reach their hometown. Ashley's parents and Amie’s parents were very good friends and thus were neighbors. 

When they began their high school, Amie started making fun of Ashley and began comparing both of them. Amie believed that she was more pretty, rich and intelligent when compared to Ashley. Ashley knew that all of this was happening as she had a different peer group who claimed to be her friends. They were being a bad influence on her and aimed at breaking up the strong friendship both Amie and Ashley had. 

Ashley was once driving down to her hometown to spend the Christmas vacations with her family whom she loved the most. Even though she had tiffs with Amie, Ashley had also planned to make amends with Amie as they became more mature. Ashley texted Amie many times but she never received any response. 

Unfortunately, Ashley got into a bad road accident as a truck from another lane lost control and rammed into her vehicle.

Jacob grew up in a torn down house with his parents. He lost his house and parents in a flash flood that jolted the entire nation. He was just 15 years old when such a shocking incident left him devastated.  He roamed around in the nearby town in search of a job, food and shelter.
