A birthday surprise - Part 2

As invited, Kia’s friends from the University dropped in, wished her for her birthday, exchanged gifts and  spent time with her. After her friends left, it was time for her to celebrate the birthday with her family. All of them were sitting and chatting when the doorbell suddenly buzzed. Naturally, all of them thought that it might be the food delivery guy who might have visited them to drop off  the additional food they had ordered a few minutes back. 

Mia went ahead and opened the door. She was shocked to see the person standing next to her. When Dean didn't hear anything, he walked over to see who the visitor was. The color from his face began draining out and he just uttered her name. Dana…Dana… 

Hearing this, everyone rushed to see the person and were shocked to see Dana standing on the other side of the door. She gave a sad smile and asked how everyone was. She asked Mia whether she recognises her. Mia said that she had only seen her in the photos and asked how she never visited them. 

Everyone took a seat and Dana began to explain about the horrific flight crash….

Dana was traveling to her hometown as her grandma had passed away. Mia was an infant and was unwell. So, Dean's parents were taking care of her. However, there was a technical glitch that was ignored by the pilots at the time of the take-off. The plane crash landed on top of a nearby hill. Dana was lucky enough to escape through the window but fell unconscious as she fell from the window. Dana failed to recollect the incident after that and only knows what the doctors had told her. She woke up in a hospital and failed to remember who she was or any details about her. The doctors said that it might be due to the shock she had following the crash.

Jacob grew up in a torn down house with his parents. He lost his house and parents in a flash flood that jolted the entire nation. He was just 15 years old when such a shocking incident left him devastated.  He roamed around in the nearby town in search of a job, food and shelter.
