A birthday surprise - Part 1

Kia was looking forward to celebrate her birthday with her dad and friends from the university. Her dad became a single parent when he found out that his wife, Dana, had died in a flight crash. As heartbreaking an event it was to Dean (Kia’s dad), he decided to care for Kia who was an infant back then. 

Kia doesn't have much memory about her mother and know her only through her photo and grandparents. Kia considers herself lucky as she is happy to spend time with both her dad's as well as mom's parents. They shower her with love whenever they visit each other. Kia loves when they take the huge family trip during vacations where both her grandparents and dad shower her with love.

Whenever Kia sees her peers speak about how their mom cooks great food for them, how they spend good time, she feels like she is missing out on many of the experiences. 

However, this year, her birthday ended up to be something different which shocked everyone to the core.

  Hana was tired of staying with her father and she decided to move out of the house. Her plan was to find a house and stay in it far away from her father. She implemented the plan immediately. Jacob grew up in a torn down house with his parents. He lost his house and parents in a flash flood that jolted the entire nation. He was just 15 years old when such a shocking incident left him devastated.  He roamed around in the nearby town in search of a job, food and shelter.
