Is social media addictive? Social media addiction

Social media addiction is an evil that might lead to great danger when it comes to the present as well as the future generations. Using social media by keeping its limits is essential for a more social and stable life. Many people, especially the new generation, are addicted to social media. Young kids these days demand their own mobile phones and start opening social media accounts to explore the information available.

Social media could easily mislead the younger generation and make them believe that doing something wrong could be good and beneficial for them. Parents these days are so busy with work that they lack time to provide proper care, love and attention to their own kids. In such cases, kids look out for love and care from someone else. It could be mainly from some stranger they might chat online. However, all such things could be avoided if parents set a control over the social media exposure of their children.

Sawyer was a high school student who was completely addicted to social media. His parents were both busy with work and he was "the only" child that was born to his parents. Unfortunately, he was spending too much time on social media and too less time with peers and assignments.

He was successful in making some friends online via online gaming. However, all of his online friends were older than him, some were even gamers who used to run a channel and earn money. Sawyer's grades started reducing and his parents were quick to find out his addiction to social media and gaming. They tried their best to provide awareness to him regarding the harmful effects of social media but he felt very anxious when he was away from his smartphone. The parents realized that this had crossed all lines and took him to a doctor. After various sessions, he got better and hsi screen time reduced drastically. There was a huge improvement in his behavior and he started making friends in school.

The above story tells us how dangerous addiction to social media could be. Every parent should keep an eye on their children and should make sure that they use social media and gaming only for a limited period of time.

Have a great day and stay strong :)
