Shopping addiction & online shopping addiction - How to stop shopping addiction?

 Katy was a shopaholic and loved to purchase anything and everything. Her parents often warned her about ending the horrible shopping addiction she has. Katy always ignored them and continued to shop.

She used to usually purchase designer clothes, handbags and other make-up accessories. As her dad was rich and gave her plenty of pocket money, her hobby was to shop until she gets satisfied. She was also a victim to online shopping addiction whenever she was sick or lacked the mood to go out and shop. 

Unfortunately, she rarely used the things she shopped and her parents had assigned people just to sort the shopped products and sell them for half the price. 

Her parents came up with a plan to end her wild shopping spree. Her dad told her that he is cutting her off from the will if she continues to shop like this. Katy believed that her dad would always support her and ignored his words. However, she was unable to purchase one day as her card was declined. She panicked and reached out to her dad only to find out that his words were true. 

She came home with teary eyes and started making a ruckus by shouting at her parents demanding money to shop. Her dad didn't budge, handed over a bunch of keys and asked her to move out. She was so angry that she decided to grab all her latest designer clothes. However, her dad only allowed to take a few of her clothes. 

He told her that it was his hard-earned money that she was spending. If she wanted money to spend, it's been a long time since she started earning.  Katy hated the concept of working. However, she soon realized that she got the keys to a run-down house which was amazingly clean and had basic food, a small bed and a clean toilet with basic furniture. Her dad told her to never contact her family again. 

Five years had passed since Katy's incident. Her dad was curious to see how she was. He was surprised to find a decent house instead of the run down house. Curiosity in him forced to knock on the door. He was surprised to find Katy opening the door. She was visibly happy and welcomed her dad inside her house. She explained how it was a struggle for her for the first month after her dad left. She realized how important money and job was for survival. She decided to apply for a job and soon got hired due to her qualifications. She decided to put in her best efforts and was able to save up enough money. She was able to build a decent house in the same plot after she realized that her dad had made her the owner of the plot as well as the run down house. 

Tears streamed down her dad's eyes and he apologized for how harsh he had behaved to her back then. Katy thanked her dad and told him how right he was to take such an extreme step towards her so that she could overcome her shopping addiction and learn to earn for her survival.
