What is it to be responsible?

Dave was the eldest in the family and was forced to drop out from high school to work and earn to take care of his family after his dad's sudden death. His mother and sister treated him badly and always saw him as an inferior because he was a drop out. However, they needed all the money he earned for living a comfortable life and for his sister's education.

Years passed by but still Dave worked hard to support his family. He felt it as a sense of responsibility he had to handle as his father had passed away. However, it came to a point where his mother and sister became too insulting and bad mouthing him. 

His sister got engaged to a rich man and the next day, they kicked Dave out of the house by insulting him. They told him that he was merely an ATM for them and was useless otherwise. Now, they had someone else to be their ATM. They threw away all his belongings when he had gone to work. Dave was shocked to find that even his mom had sided with his sister. His mom even told him that she was ashamed to call Dave her son and they never wanted him to meet the rich boyfriend of his sister and introduce him as her brother. His mother told him that she and his sister were cutting off all ties with him and never to meet them anymore. With a heavy heart, Dave left the house. 

His mother and sister never knew how Dave worked hard, studied part time, attended college and had completed his exams. Dave graduated and worked hard for a year in a prestigious company. Soon, he went ahead and opened up his own company which was going smoothly. 

One day, his sister reached out to him via text and told how surprised she was to see his interview on TV. She never thought that he would become so successful. She was shocked to know how he found time to study, graduate and open his own company as he told in the interview. 

She shared how her boyfriend was a married man who was in debt and not rich at all. He got together with her only for her money. Both her mother and she were just scraping by her daily wages. She asked if it was okay for her and mother to move into his mansion. He straight away refused and told her that he was living with his girlfriend. He also told her how his mother had asked him to cut off all ties with them. 

Dave blocked his sister's number. His mother contacted him and he blocked her number as well.

When someone responsibly works for the family, appreciate all their hard work. Help them out whenever needed. Provide support to them so that they feel that they are needed in the family.

Jacob grew up in a torn down house with his parents. He lost his house and parents in a flash flood that jolted the entire nation.
