How to be emotionally strong in a relationship?

Shane and Lia managed to be husband and wife for almost a year now. Shane was happy and ordered around the house, still living the life of a carefree bachelor while Lia had to quit her job as Shane forced her to do so. Besides Shane expected Lia to keep the house spotless everyday and expected her to cook restaurant quality food for him to enjoy.

Lia started believing that she was expected to handle all such duties and serve her husband until the end of her life. Lia wished to have a child and she hoped that Shane would become responsible once he becomes a father. However, Shane hated kids and never intended to have his own kids. 

Kate, Lia's bestie, used to keep in touch with Lia until she got married. Shane hated when Lia texted or called her friends. He thought of it as a waste of time and told Lia to cut off all contact with friends and even with her parents. Even though Lia was heartbroken, she avoided contacting people in front of Shane and used to communicate with her parents and friends whenever Shane was not at home. 

One day, Kate decided to drop in on Lia's place as a surprise to her. Lia jumped out of her seat when she saw Kate and held her in a warm embrace. Thankfully, she was glad that Shane was not at home and had gone on a business trip of his which he used to go frequently. 

Kate understood that Lia had a lot of issues in her relationship and she remained emotionally strong to face those. Lia explained everything to Kate and Kate suggested getting out of the relationship at the earliest as the best solution for Lia. Kate was a lawyer and assured that she would help her bestie at any cost. 

Kate thought of Shane's frequent business trips as something suspicious. She hired a spy and found out that Shane was promiscuous and gave the name of business trips to relax and be with others for fun. 

Kaye collected evidence with the help of the spy and helped out Lia to get a divorce from Shane. Even though Shane was pissed, he was unable to take any actions against anyone and was forced to pay emotional damages to Lia.

The above story tells us how to be emotionally strong in a relationship even when the situations are harsh. However, if help is needed to get out of a toxic relationship, understand that there are people around you who can help.
