How important is Men's mental health? Should we observe Men's mental health month?

 Shane’s life was traumatic since his childhood. His family was abusive towards him as all of them had high hopes on his step brother, Adrian. Shane was asked to drop out from school as his father and step mother wanted to focus more on Adrian and his education. Shane was forced to work since his school drop out time and he was forced to hand over every penny he earned to his step mother. She would curse him for earning less and always tell him that he is a failure and useless person, unlike Adrian who is a smart and bright child who would make the family proud, according to her.

Shane was tired and fed up with his life with the family and wanted to escape from there at any chance he got.  Asmdrian came home one day and declared that he got a job in a prestigious company and would earn a heavy paycheck. As soon as his mother heard this, she started making plans to kick out Shane from the house. 

She approached her husband  and said, "Honey, Aren't you happy that our Adrian got a great job? Don't you think that he would need more space in the house? Shane earns nothing much and won't belong to the high class. Adran would be ashamed of telling anyone that he is even related to Shane in any way. Don't you think that we should kick him out?" Her husband agreed completely. 

She told, "Shane, just take your things and get out of this house. We no longer need you or your money. Our Adrian would take care of us and we would soon become a high class family which won't be suited for you in any way. We are even ashamed to admit that we are related to you. So just GET OUT of this house you worthless boy! Remember, you should never call us or beg us for any help. We are cutting all our ties with you. From now on, we only have one son and that's our lovely Adrian who has made me proud. Make sure you get out from the house by the end of the day"

Shane was heart broken. He said, "B..but… how will I find a place by the end of the day? Could you please give me some time to find a place?" His step mother rudely disagreed. She said, "I don't care if you have to sleep on the streets for what you are worth. Just make sure that you take all your belongings and get out of the house."

Shane packed all of his things and started walking out of his house. He was sitting in a park all alone when he met an old man next to him. The man came closer to Shane and asked why he was sitting with a few boxes in his hand. He told how cruelly he was treated by his own family even when he had earned money since childhood and contributed to his family.  The man understood what Shane had gone through was mental abuse.

Men's mental health is equally important as that of a woman's mental health. Men are still, in the modern society, expected to earn, no matter what and shoulder all the financial responsibilities. Women should also be equally responsible for the same. Both men and women should get support when they have mental health issues. Raising awareness that men's mental health month should be observed is very important in this society. People with mental health issues should be provided with all the help they need.

Jacob grew up in a torn down house with his parents. He lost his house and parents in a flash flood that jolted the entire nation.
