Everyone is beautiful in their own way... Don't you agree?

 Jina was short and dark-skinned. Everyone in her university used to make fun of her and body shame her. She never had the confidence to fight back so the abuses kept increasing day by day. Mina was her best friend since childhood. Mina was good-looking and most of her friends used to compliment her for the way she looks. However, some of her friends used to ask her why she was friendly with Jina, who looked exactly the opposite of her. Mina used to ignore all such comments and support Jina every time. ______________________________________________________________________________

One day, Jina went over to Mina’s house where she met with her cousins for the first time. However, her cousins were not generous with Jina. As soon as they met her, they started commenting about her looks, how short she was and how Mina could be-friend ‘such an ugly duckling’ to be her bestie. Mina was so furious with her cousins insulting her bestie. “How could you guys speak about someone like that? Have you taken a look at yourselves? Just because Jina is short and has a different skin color doesn't mean that she is ugly. She has a pure heart that knows to love, be compassionate and help others when in need. She keeps quiet when people like you speak ill about her because her heart is good. It’s all of you that are ugly. You might believe that you look pretty, but that’s not it! What you need is a good and pure heart that knows to love others, no matter how they look or sound.” Mina spoke out angrily and stormed off to her room. Her cousins were shocked to hear all of that. Jina rushed to Mina’s room and said, “Are you okay Mina? You know that I don’t mind people speaking about me like that. At this point, I am used to such words. You should not fight with your cousins just because of me. Please go and make amends with them.” spoke Jina. “No Jina. I can’t stand anyone insulting you like that. When somebody speaks to you like that and even spoke ill about you to me, I thought that you would speak back to them. Later I realized that you don’t bother when people talk ill about you. However, I felt insulted when anybody criticized you in front of me. You have been my true friend since we were young and it will remain the same in the future.” told Mina. 

“I have seen the goodness and sincerity in your heart. I know you very well. This is why I consider you as my bestie.” replied Jina.

Looks never matter. At this age where youngsters make use of Instagram filters to make themselves look pretty, one should realize that every human being on this earth is beautiful. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. Women give birth and get stretch marks on their bodies. It should be considered as a blessing and should be a reminder for the sacrifices you took just to bring your baby out to this world. We should understand that beauty lies, not just outside but also within the heart and would show how beautiful you are through your behavior and attitude towards others.

Jacob grew up in a torn down house with his parents. He lost his house and parents in a flash flood that jolted the entire nation. He was just 15 years old when such a shocking incident left him devastated.  He roamed around in the nearby town in search of a job, food and shelter.
