Being kind to others - Part 1

Katy, as usual, went shopping. The supermarket was relatively empty that day and Katy was wondering why it was so. However, she continued shopping for groceries and other staple food products. She found a woman, who was dressed in faded clothes, carrying a baby, looking for baby food. The lady asked Katy where she could find baby food. She mentioned that she was new to the area and was unaware of the baby food section. Katy guided the woman. She thanked and walked quickly with the baby on her lap who was fast asleep.  In a span of a few minutes, as Katy was at the billing counter, sbe could hear faint cries of the baby and someone trying to console the child. Katy didn't give it a thought but she still thought that the woman with the baby needed some sort of help.  The next week, Katy walked into the same supermarket. However, she met the lady with the baby when she had completed the payment and was exiting the store. The lady was walking fast and something looked suspicious t...

Caring for animals - Part 2

Ella felt bad for the baby squirrel and picked it up. It was slowly trying to open its eyes but was too tired and injured. When she looked above the tree, she found a healthy squirrel scurrying inside its burrow. Ella decided to nurse it back to health before placing the baby squirrel in its burrow and made a special cage for the squirrel. As days passed by, the squirrel started recovering. Ella felt attached to the squirrel and was not willing to part with it. However, she knew that the squirrel's family lived on the tree.  Elena who was observing all of this told her sister on how important it is to fight for the cause of protecting wild animals around the world, just like her sister has protected the baby squirrel from further harm. If the baby squirrel was lying there, it would have been vulnerable to other threats. Some other animal might attack it or might kill it. However, as Ella saved the squirrel, it was away from getting harmed.  This made Ella realize how im...

All's well that ends well - Part 2

As he drifted off to sleep, he remembered how the day had begun for him before the crash occurred. He woke up and started to get ready for the office. The important presentation he had infront of the clients would decide his promotion which was long due. He grabbed the documents on which he was working until late night, arranged it well and placed it in his folder. After keeping the folder within the bag, he waved to his wife without any interest and grabbed his car keys. As he was waking out of the house, his wife asked him whether he would skip the breakfast again as usual.  He ignored her and pressed the ignition. Nothing happened. He made several attempts to start his car but failed. He walked inside the house, told his wife about getting it repaired and walked away from the house. He had various options in front of him. The easiest one was to take the subway to reach his office with sometime to spare. He reached the office a bit early but regretted about not having breakfast a...

All's well that ends well - Part 1

Justin struggled to open his eyes as there was bright light which made it tough to see the premises. Five minutes or so had passed. Justin tried to open his eyes again and fluttered so that he could try and see properly.  What first was a blur to him slowly began to clear up. He could only hear a distant beeping of some machine. No body was seen in the vicinity. His head was throbbing with intense pain and he felt like he was sleeping on top of a thousand needles and all of them were pricking him at once. He was unable to move or speak. He tried to open his mouth but it didn't budge. He tried to move his fingers slowly but the more he tried, the more his attempts failed.  Everything became blue again. This time when he woke up, he was amidst a pool of blood, lying on the road. He could see camera flashes around him and some indistinctive chats. After hearing a chime, he felt like he was losing all his energy and closed his eyes.  He opened his eyes once again to see a wom...

Every job has its own value… Part 2

One day as she was working, a man approached the food truck. He was shabby and looked pathetic. She felt bad and offered some free food when she saw the man looking at her. As she looked at him longer, realization drew upon her and she became pale….. It was none other than her ex husband. Besides him was a well-dressed woman who looked way older than him. She exclaimed, "We don't need your free food. We are here to order your best sellers." The woman looked like she was rich and clearly had no intentions to ask the guy besides her on what he preferred to eat.  Mary fulfilled their orders and the woman even gave a generous amount rather than the usual cost of food. She ate the food and liked it so much. The man, still in shock, tried to avoid looking at Mary. By seeing Mary shook, her daughter enquired if she was fine. However, Mary shared that she had never been better! That night, Mary remembered how her now ex-husband used to torture her physically and verbally. He us...
